Joan Mason
Behind every successful creative organisation is someone who ensures great ideas are matched with sound financial management.
For more than 40 years, Joan Mason has built a career founded on accuracy, accountability and financial expertise. Her experience spans commercial banking, financial administration and the creative industries, where she has earned a reputation for meticulous organisation and trusted stewardship.
Her work has evolved alongside the changing creative economy. In recent years, Joan has managed the financial administration of professional musicians, overseeing contracts, tracking income streams and ensuring royalty payments are received accurately and on time. Her understanding of both finance and the realities of creative work has made her a valued figure behind the scenes.
As Finance Director of The Sound Agents, Joan oversees the organisation's financial management, supporting everything from project budgeting and funding to long-term sustainability. Her careful approach allows creative teams to focus on storytelling, knowing the financial foundations of each project are secure.
Alongside her role with The Sound Agents, Joan continues to work within the live music industry, combining her professional expertise with a lifelong passion for music and the arts. Her ability to bridge financial discipline with creative ambition brings an essential balance to the organisation.
While much of her work happens away from the spotlight, Joan plays a central role in ensuring ideas become achievable projects. Through careful planning, financial oversight and decades of experience, she helps provide the stability that allows creativity to flourish.
Great stories need creativity to inspire people and discipline to sustain them.
Throughout my career I have seen the importance of combining creativity with strong financial foundations. Community projects succeed when passion is supported by careful planning, accountability and sustainable management.
At The Sound Agents, I help ensure our projects remain financially sound while giving communities, artists and storytellers the support they need to create meaningful and lasting impact.
